The Lithuanian flag ship, whose machinery broke down at the entrance of the Dardanelles, was taken to the Bozcaada anchorage area under the escort of a tugboat.
The machinery of the 147-meter-long container ship “Sonata”, going from Izmir to Bulgaria, broke down at the southern entrance of the Bosphorus.
After the ship captain reported the situation to the Dardanelles Vessel Traffic Services Directorate via radio, the “Kurtarma-14” tugboat affiliated with the General Directorate of Coastal Safety (KEGM) was dispatched to the region.
Additionally, captains of other ships in the region were informed about the malfunction.
The ship was taken to the anchorage area off Bozcaada, accompanied by the pilot and the tugboat, and anchored.
