The stranded cargo ship is kept on the beach - News2Sea

The cargo ship, which ran aground in Artvin’s Hopa district yesterday, will be towed as the waves lose their effect.

The Palau-flagged dry cargo ship “FR Pearl”, which ran aground due to the storm off the coast of Hopa and whose crew of 13 people was evacuated without any problems, is kept on the shore.

Authorities reported that the ship will be withdrawn from the beach after the waves completely lose their effect.

On the other hand, it was observed that citizens came to the seashore to see the cargo ship and took pictures with their mobile phones.

After the ship ran aground yesterday morning, work was initiated by AFAD, Coast Guard, AKUT, police, fire brigade and medical teams. The crew of 13, including 6 Turks, 5 Azerbaijanis and 2 Indonesians, was taken to the shore with the zipline system established between the ship and the land (users slide from one point to another with a seat belt, using steel ropes and pulleys between two points).
