TUBITAK paid a project visit to Elkon

TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal was at Elkon, one of the important companies in marine and ship electronics.

TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr Hasan Mandal and his accompanying delegation were hosted by Elkon Board Member and General Manager Ertuğ Yaşar and his teammates.

University industry cooperation

“We visited Elkon Elektrik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., a company that aims to develop innovative technologies and high value-added technologies that play a leading role in the designs of electric ships on the path to decarbonization at sea,” Mandal said:

“We visited our company’s R&D center, R&D laboratory and factory and closely examined the work they carried out. We received information about TÜBİTAK and TÜBİTAK Horizon Europe Program supported projects and their efforts for a more sustainable and cleaner future. We listened to the details of 7 EU projects carried out by our company, which has successfully integrated university-industry cooperation into its R&D activities, with international collaborations, 5 of which were supported by Horizon Europe.

International projects are very valuable

“We received feedback from them that the international collaborations they developed thanks to the B2B information days in which our company participated with the support of TÜBİTAK were very valuable and that these supports were a very important opportunity for the organizations doing R&D work in our country.

During our visit, we listened to our company’s predictions about the place of electrification on ships, digital twins of ships, alternative fuels, battery technologies and hydrogen technologies in the maritime sector, and shared our ideas with them about commercializing their R&D activities and our TÜBİTAK support in this context.

“We will continue to support our companies that produce and develop for our country, and we will build a fully independent Turkey by moving towards a national technology move.”
