Turkish freighter disabled by fire in stormy Bay of Biscay - News2Sea

General cargo ship GUANA suffered fire in engine room at around 2300 UTC Dec 26 in Bay of Biscay SW of Brest, while en route from Immingham to Turkey with cargo of iron. Fire was extinguished by the crew, but the ship was disabled, crew unable to fix and restart engine. It was decided to dispatch salvage tug ABEILLE BOURBON, meanwhile, understood, there was kind of panic among crew, some of them demanding evacuation. No updates on partial crew evacuation, at 0510 UTC Dec 28 the ship ship was either under tow, or limping under own power, escorted by ABEILLE BOURBON, in adverse weather conditions.
