Two fishing boats sank due to adverse waves in Sakarya’s Karasu district.
Two boats anchored in Yeni Mahalle, the point where the Sakarya River meets the Black Sea, sank due to the reverse wave, called soluğun. The boats were pulled out of the water by fishermen.
Atilla Bıçakcı, President of Karasu Fisheries Cooperative, stated to journalists that the reverse wave, called soluğun, was caused by the incomplete breakwater at the river mouth and that they had problems with every reverse wave.
Fisherman Bünyamin Ceylan stated that even a small storm causes problems in the river and said, “With the breakwater built in the Bosphorus, the waves come in. Our boats sink with the sogukan. We used to tie our boats with small ropes. Now we tie them like a spider web. We stand guard over them until the morning.” he said.
Ceylan, with the work of the State Hydraulic Works Stating that the floods and floods have ended, he added that there are demands for a fishing shelter to be built in the district.
