In Rize, “Bridge Over” and “Global Maritime Hazard and Safety System” simulators were installed at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University Turgut Kıran Maritime Faculty.

Rector Prof. attended the opening ceremony of the domestic simulators established at the faculty with the contributions of the Istanbul and Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, Black Sea Regions (IMEAK) Chamber of Shipping. Dr. Yusuf Yılmaz, İMEAK Chamber of Shipping Chairman Tamer Kıran, Dean Prof. Dr. Ferhat Kalaycı and other relevant people attended.

Kıran said that maritime education is very expensive and all resources have been transferred to maritime education in the last 20 years.

Stating that in the past, the installation and sale of marine simulators were only done by a foreign company, Kıran stated that they are working to produce a local and national alternative.

Kıran pointed out that companies are encouraged with the contributions of universities, and that they have achieved an important work in this sense and that the two companies have created a competitive environment in Turkey.

Underlining that the work established at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University Turgut Kıran Maritime Faculty is very valuable, Kıran stated that successful young people will continue to be raised here.

Kıran stated that they are extremely pleased with the entry of local and national companies into the sector and said, “Where there is competition, quality and success increase. We find it very valuable and beneficial that our two local and national companies have entered this field. As the Chamber of Shipping, we also support them in this field.” “We were encouraged in this direction and very good results emerged.” said.

Pointing out that the first of the Bridge and Global Maritime Hazard and Safety System simulators was established at Turgut Kıran Maritime Faculty, Kıran said:

“We will have a similar opening at Istanbul Technical University Maritime Faculty very soon. We will also have a similar opening at Galatasaray University Maritime Vocational School. Our companies continue to be extremely successful. Our country has 12 faculties, 12 vocational schools and approximately 60 maritime vocational schools. “It is doing an extraordinary job in maritime education with its high school. Hopefully, it will continue with the same support and confidence from now on, and our country will continue to have an educated workforce, which is the most important element on the path to becoming a maritime country.”
