Stating that the decision will be announced today, the official also stated that this company and the Turkish citizen were accused of violating sanctions against Russia.
It was also stated that the mentioned company and person’s shipping and trading companies helped break sanctions against ships affiliated with Russia’s defense ministry.
Reuters stated that this move comes at a very critical time for US-Turkey relations. The agency pointed out that the US is expected to open the parliament to approve Sweden’s NATO membership.

Recently, many high-ranking US officials, including US Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo, came to Turkey and had contacts. Reuters interpreted these visits as “a campaign to prevent any Turkish company from helping Russia.”
“For the last 18 months, we have shared our concerns with the Turkish government and the private sector and told them about the significant risks of doing business with institutions and organizations we have sanctioned in connection with the Russia war,” the official, who spoke to Reuters and did not disclose his name, said.
While it was stated that the US Department of Treasury would impose sanctions on Margiana İnşaat Dış Ticaret and Demirci Bilişim Ticaret Sanayi, it was also stated that sanctions would be imposed on the company named Denkar Ship Construction. It was stated that sanctions will be imposed on CTL Limited along with ID Ship Agency and its owner İlker Doğruyol.
AvtoVAZ and Moskvich automobile companies are also included in the list, which includes many Russian companies and about 20 Russian citizens. About 150 foreign companies were also included in the list.
