The Electoral Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of the Dokuz Eylül University Maritime Faculty Alumni Association was held on 29 November 2023 at the IMEAK Chamber of Shipping Izmir Branch Assembly Hall.

In his speech, Erbayraktar said, “My term as Chairman of the DEFMED Board of Directors, which I have been carrying out with great honor for two terms, ends today. Despite the natural disasters, pandemics, wars and many other negativities we experienced during this period, we, together with our Board of Directors, endeavored to carry out beneficial activities for our graduates, our association, our students, our sector and our country. We aimed to make DEFMED a brand recognized in the industry as well as among graduates. For this purpose, we worked intensively in both periods. Throughout my term as president, I have tried to act with the awareness of the responsibility I feel for representing you. I have always taken care to be unifying by giving importance to everyone’s opinion and not to offend anyone. I don’t want to leave even one person behind feeling resentful. I’m sorry if I made any mistakes or offended anyone without realizing it. My phone is always open to everyone. You can reach me at any time and directly communicate any issue. Our graduates, from the oldest to the youngest, have always and in every environment shown me the highest level of love and respect as the President of DEFMED. DEFMED Board of Directors and Auditing Board members were unanimously elected with the voting held after the application made with a single list for candidacy for the new term board of directors.

Bülent İbik, who made a thank you speech on behalf of the Board of Directors, said: “I would like to thank everyone individually. I took over the flag after spending an enjoyable and busy period with our dear President Orçun, a true friend, a good person, a very good manager, and his beautiful team, each of whom is very valuable. There is a very meaningful word that I heard during a trip to Azerbaijan. They called him “colleague”. You can clearly see in this activity presentation the work of all my senior colleagues and friends who carried our association to these days from 2002 to 2023. The fact that the bar for success has been raised quite high places great responsibilities on us. We took help from our brothers and we hope that we can help our brothers with such a beautiful presentation.
