Enerjisa Enerji is establishing a plastic waste recycling center for marine waste in the Karataş district of Adana, whose main source of income is fishing, within the scope of the Sabancı Republic Mobilization organized for the third time this year.

According to the statement made by the company, within the scope of the project, which is sustainable for the fishermen and marine biodiversity in the region, fishermen will collect marine waste and bring it to the waste recycling center and earn income from it.

With the solar power plant to be installed on the roof of the ice production facility in Karataş Fisheries Cooperative with the Sabancı Republic Mobilization, the cooperative will provide all of its energy costs from renewable energy.

Ice produced in facilities powered by renewable energy will be given to fishermen at low cost, and the savings will contribute to the employment of women in the region in the cooperative.

In addition, participants will gain new competencies and skills with the “Sustainable Fishing”, “Ergonomics in Fishing” and “Plastic Waste Management” trainings given by CarrefourSA to increase the technical capacity of Karataş Fisheries Cooperative.

The Sabancı Republic Mobilization event of the Adana Karataş-Sustainable Fisheries project, hosted by Enerjisa Enerji, was attended by the volunteers of Enerjisa Toroslar EDAŞ, the distribution company in charge in the region, and the volunteers of CarrefourSA, Enerjisa Üretim and Sabancı Holding, representing the Sabancı Group, and senior managers. participated, including.

Local people living in Karataş, a district of Adana where 90 percent of the population earns their living from fishing, and Sabancı Volunteers celebrated this special day by working in a manner befitting the Republic, with a large participation of 300 people in total.

Within the scope of the mobilization, Sabancı Volunteers with fishing boats collected various wastes and ghost nets removed from the sea by the diving team, including Sabancı Volunteers, and a comprehensive waste collection event was carried out at the port and Harbiş Beach.

At the end of the event day, 878 kilograms of waste was collected and delivered to the waste recycling center.
