The practice of switching foreign flagged boats to the Turkish flag has been completely terminated.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that new applications cannot be accepted for boats abroad or flying foreign flags to switch to the Turkish flag, and that the practice has been completely terminated.

In his statement, Minister Uraloğlu reminded that the necessary arrangements were made with the communiqué published on March 3, 2017, in order to ensure the free circulation of yachts, choppers, boats, passenger and pleasure vessels belonging to real and legal persons for the purpose of registration or registration.

Stating that the boats that will request to switch to the Turkish flag have been required to be acquired before January 27, 2017, Uraloğlu said, “To date, many applications have been made to the port authorities, far exceeding the number of boats that meet the condition and are expected to switch to the Turkish flag, and the transition process of these boats to the Turkish flag has been completed.” used.

Pointing out that the notification has been abolished today due to the completion of the transition process of the boats that meet the conditions to the Turkish flag and the acquisition date being out of date, Uraloğlu said:

Within the scope of the Communiqué on the Transition of Boats Located Abroad or Flying Foreign Flags to the Turkish Flag, no new applications will be accepted and the application has been completely terminated. However, applications regarding the transition of second-hand ships, watercraft and boats from the foreign flag to the Turkish flag are evaluated separately by our Ministry within the scope of Article 7 of the Import Regime Decision, in accordance with the import legislation, provided that the necessary conditions are met.
