A man’s body was found in the sea in Izmir’s Konak district, with a water-filled jerrycan tied to his feet.
Citizens who saw a person lying motionless in the sea on Mustafa Kemal Sahil Boulevard Karataş Beach reported the situation to the authorities.
The person, who was taken to the boat by the marine police and Coast Guard teams dispatched to the region and brought to the shore, was determined to have died by the medical teams.
Two canisters filled with water were found tied to the left ankle of the male body, which had no identification.
Police teams also evaluated the suspicion of murder and launched an investigation into the incident.
After the examination, the body was taken to the Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy.
