Turkish crew missing on a ship off the coast of Bartın; they are being searched at sea.

“PS VALETTA”, a 180-meter-long dry cargo ship with 23 Turkish crew members, sailing from Novorosssiyky Port of Russia to Iskenderun Port, passed 18 nautical miles off the Kurucaşile district of Bartın yesterday.

While sailing in international waters, Turkish crew member M.Ş. (26), who was in charge of cleaning works, disappeared on board. The other crew searched the ship. However, M.Ş. was not found. The ship captain informed the Coast Guard teams. Coast Guard boats from the Coast Guard Western Black Sea Group Command in Zonguldak, Amasra and İnebolu searched the sea.

The helicopter of the Coast Guard Command also supported the search operations from the air. While the search for the crew member who is believed to have fallen into the sea continues, the ship is waiting offshore.
