A "christening ceremony" was held for Schramm's new tugboat - News2Sea

The “christening ceremony” of the tugboat that Sanmar sold to the German operator was held.

A “christening ceremony” was held for the new tugboat built by Sanmar Shipyards for the German operator H. Schramm Towage.

At the ceremony, Lara König became the honorary mother of her two-year-old son Bo, the godchild of Schramm’s owner, Hans-Helmut Schramm, by naming the tugboat after him.

At the ceremony, Hans-Helmut Schramm and H. Schramm Towage General Manager Nico Andritter-Witt along with Robert Allan Ltd President and CEO Michael S. Fitzpatrick, Middle East Business Development Director Oben Naki, Fairplay Towage General Manager Philip Harmstorf and Senior Sales Manager Finn Roppel was present.

75 tons of traction power

Part of Sanmar’s Deliçay series and based on Robert Allan’s Sanmar-exclusive TRaktor-Z 2500SX design, the BO has 75 tonnes of traction and a top speed of 12 mph. BO, which is 5.3 meters long and 12 meters wide, has the Fi-Fi 1 fire fighting system.

sixth tug

BO, which was named Deliçay XIV when it was in the Sanmar fleet, will be the sixth tugboat delivered to Schramm. Sanmar, which gave Schramm its first tugboat in 2005, last delivered the ATD tugboat SÖNKE two years ago.

Founded in 1926, H. Schramm Towage operates mainly at the intersection of the Elbe river, the North Sea, the Baltic Sea and the Kiel Canal. The new tug will operate at BO, at the mouth of the Elbe and at Brunsbüttel at the western end of the Kiel Canal.

New technologies come into play

Sanmar Shipyards Commercial Director Ruçhan Çıvgın stated that the sector is going through a great change with the introduction of new technologies and said, “Despite all these changes, I think it is beneficial for deep-rooted traditions such as naming ceremonies to continue. These also establish our connection with the past. I am very happy that our valued guests participated in the event. “BO is the most advanced and environmentally friendly tugboat in its class to date,” he said.

perfect tug

H. Schramm Towage General Manager Nico Andritter-Witt said:

“It is a beautiful event to remember with our families and friends. This tug is perfect to meet our customers’ needs and we are delighted that it will start in our fleet in January 2024. “With this new tugboat, we are strengthening our plans for the future,” he said.
