A special magnificent celebration from ITU DEFAMED (YDO) for the 100th anniversary of the Republic

The 29 October Republic Ball, traditionally organized by the ITU Maritime Faculty (YDO) Alumni Association (DEFAMED), was held at Ataşehir Grand Sheraton Hotel. In addition to the ITU Maritime Faculty Alumni Association, ITU Maritime Faculty faculty members, Maritime Faculty graduates and leading names of the maritime industry also attended the 100th anniversary ball.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu conveyed his message because he could not attend the night.

In his message, İmamoğlu said, “Thank you very much for your kind invitation. I am very sorry that I will not be able to be with you at the October 29 Republic Ball that you organized due to my pre-determined schedules. I hope to be together at your next events. I would like to express my gratitude for your good work and greet you and all the guests with respect.” gave place.

Making the opening speech of the ball, İTÜ DEFAMED Chairman of the Board of Directors Capt. Ufuk Teker said, “To the blue-eyed giant and his comrades, who have made the biggest difference in our lives today, who have enabled us to live freely, without being oppressed, without being under the mandate or colonial rule of any different country, without the form of government being sultanate, shah, or kingdom, he has entrusted us with this trust.” “We thank the previous generations very much. Teker continued his speech and said, “Tonight, we are together with 700 of our sailor friends as we celebrate this historic night. I would like to thank the valuable graduates, their spouses, and our children for making us experience this enthusiasm this evening. It is easy to say, the 100-year history of the Republic started the next century today.” He also included his statements.

After the dancers performed at night, the guests had pleasant moments on stage accompanied by the orchestra.

At the night when the results of the photography contest initiated by DEFAMED were announced, plaques were also presented to the companies that sponsored the event.
