The first firing test with the warhead of the national heavy torpedo AKYA, developed by Roketsan, was successfully carried out from the TCG Preveza Submarine in the Eastern Mediterranean.

According to the statement made by the Ministry of National Defense, it was followed with great excitement that the AKYA heavy torpedo hit the target with full accuracy in the war fire carried out by the TCG Preveza Submarine in the Eastern Mediterranean on December 27.

Commander of the Naval Forces Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, President of Defense Industries Haluk Görgün, Roketsan General Manager Murat İkin and military personnel watched the firing of the AKYA heavy torpedo from the Command Center of TCG GÖKOVA.

After the final preparations were completed, the AKYA heavy torpedo, which was fired with the command “Bismillah fire free” by the Commander of the Naval Forces, Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, hit the target ship with full accuracy from a distance of 12 thousand yards and sank it.

“We added the AKYA torpedo to the Turkish Naval Forces inventory”

There was great joy at the TCG Gökova Command Center when AKYA successfully hit the target.

Commander of the Naval Forces, Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, in his evaluation after the firing, said, “Today is a very important day for the Turkish Naval Forces. We performed a very successful launch of our local and national torpedo AKYA, and we included the AKYA torpedo in the inventory of the Turkish Naval Forces.” he said.

Reminding that the national and local guided missile Atmaca was recently included in the inventory, Tatlıoğlu said, “We will soon put into service our Hisar naval national and local guided missile, which we will use against air targets from our ships. Likewise, our national and local mine Malaman will be added to our inventory in a short time.” “Our ships, which use our local and national fire control systems, use local and national guidance missiles and local and national torpedoes. Good luck and good luck.” he said.

“We became one of the 5-6 countries in the world”

Defense Industry President Görgün also stated that with this launch, a high-tech ammunition was brought to the Naval Forces with a successful launch, and added:

“The heavy torpedo we fired today is a very important and indispensable element, especially for submarine warfare. Since it is difficult to detect and has a very serious destructive power, it was very essential that it be local and national. There are 5-6 countries in the world that can do this. We were one of them. Thank God, we added it to the inventory as a result of the successful shooting today. This will be a very deterrent force for our Naval Forces in protecting our Blue Homeland and our rights in the region.

First of all, I would like to thank our President, our Ministry of National Defense, our Navy, all our companies that contributed to this project, and of course the personnel of Roketsan and the Presidency of Defense Industries. Good luck and good luck.”

“It shows how sharp Turkey’s steel sword in the Blue Homeland is”

Roketsan General Manager Murat İkin made the following evaluations:

“It is truly a historic day for the Turkish Armed Forces, the Naval Forces, and especially our defense industry. The fact that our AKYA torpedo, one of our local and national Atmaca anti-ship missiles, is also in the inventory of our Naval Forces really shows how sharp is Turkey’s steel sword in the Blue Homeland. “We all felt the rightful pride of having achieved this with national talents.”
