In Giresun, the bear cub in the sea was rescued by fishermen and handed over to the Nature Conservation and National Parks teams.

Citizens who noticed that there was a bear cub in the sea in Tepeköy Kulak location of Keşap district, reported the situation to the fishermen.

Three fishermen, who saw the bear from land, set off by boat from the Kulak Fisherman’s Shelter and went to the animal, which was about 200 meters away.

The bear, which had become exhausted in the water, was taken with a gedal (net scoop used to catch fish from the net) and placed on the boat.

The bear cub, which was brought to the fishing shelter, was received by the officials of the Nature Conservation and National Parks Branch Directorate.

Mustafa Demir, one of the fishermen, told the AA correspondent that when they saw the bear, they reported the situation to the Coast Guard Teams.

“He was trying to return to land.”

Stating that they intervened and took the bear to the boat to prevent it from drowning, Demir said, “This is the first time we have come across something like this. We were very surprised. The animal was swimming desperately, it went a little offshore, it was trying to return to land again, at that moment we took it on the boat. We had a hard time getting it out of the water. It came out of the water once or twice.” output.” he said.

Another fisherman, İsmail Öztürk, stated that the size of the gedal was lucky for the bear and said, “It fit in the gedal and we took it. We did not expect it to be this big. It was a baby but it was big, we had the courage to take it. We saved the animal. It was also swimming well in the sea. Apart from the fish, there was also a bear.” “Unfortunately, we caught it. I hope it will return to nature again.” he said.
