Coaster cargo ship LONG SHUN suffered engine failure on Nov 30 off Changhua County, central west Taiwan, Taiwan Strait. The ship developed stb list and aft tilt, requested assistance. Captain ordered crew to abandon the ship, though later it has become known, that of 7 crew, 3 remained on board. 1 was airlifted to safety by Taiwan Air Corps helicopter, 3 rescued by patrol boat. Remaining crew managed to restart engine at night Nov 30 or in early hours Dec 1, the ship was under way, limping at slow speed towards Kaohsiung. As of 0600 UTC Dec 1, was either adrift or moving slow ahead NW of Kaohsiung.
