It was reported that the amount of cargo handled in foreign trade at ports in China increased by 9.7 percent on an annual basis in the January-August period, reaching 3 billion 340 million tons.
According to data released today by the Chinese Ministry of Transport, the volume of cargo and mail transported by international air has also experienced a steady increase. As of the end of August, 252 freight aircraft are operating in the sector and these aircraft serve 22 different countries. During this period, the cargo and mail volume carried out by air increased by 4.9 percent on an annual basis and reached 10 million 324 thousand tons.
China-Europe freight trains reach 217 cities in 25 European countries using 86 lines. The total cargo volume carried by these trains increased by 23 percent on an annual basis, reaching 1 million 262 thousand TEU. The volume of cargo sent from Alashankou, Korgaz, Erenhot, Manzhouli and Suifenhe, which are the country’s main land border gates, in August increased by 89.1 percent compared to last year.
