China’s ocean ship, which will drill at 11 thousand meters, has started its test voyage.

China’s first ocean drilling ship, named “Dream”, designed and produced with domestic technology, started its first test voyage in the Nansha region of Guangzhou city today. The drilling ship, weighing 33 thousand tons, has a range of 15 thousand miles and 120 days of autonomous logistics capability. The drilling ship can also drill in the ocean to a depth of 11 thousand meters. The ship has a length of 179.8 meters and a width of 32.8 meters.

This ship, which has the world’s leading ocean drilling capacity, will provide significant support to the industrialization of natural gas hydrate exploration and extraction, which is expected to be completed in 2024. The ship’s research in the ocean is expected to support China’s energy independence.

The drilling ship also includes the world’s largest and most comprehensive on-board laboratory, covering an area of ​​more than 3 thousand square meters. Studies can be carried out here in nine fields, including marine science, microbiology and paleomagnetism. (CGTN TÜRK)
