Evergreen stops exports and imports with Israel - News2Sea

Taiwanese shipping company Evergreen has stopped exports and imports with Israel.

Taiwanese shipping company Evergreen announced that it has stopped exports and imports with Israel.

In the statement sent to its customers, the company stated that its ships serving Mediterranean ports will pass through the Cape of Good Hope and go around Africa instead of the Red Sea.

In the statement, it was noted that exports and imports with Israel were temporarily suspended due to the security risks posed by the increasingly violent war in the region.

Following the recent actions of the Houthis, many shipping companies decided to stop their voyages in the Red Sea. Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen announced on December 12 that they targeted the Norwegian oil ship that did not respond to warnings and went to Israel.

In the statement made yesterday by Egypt’s Suez Canal Administration, it was reported that the route of 55 ships has been directed to the Cape of Good Hope at the southern tip of Africa instead of the Bab al-Mandeb Strait since November 19.
