It has been reported that Greece’s first Belharra class frigate, Kimon, will be officially introduced at the shipyard in Lorient, France, on October 4.

According to reports in the Greek media, preparations are continuing for the official launch of Kimon. The launch is planned to take place at the Lorient shipyard on October 4.

It was noted that the frigate, designed to meet modern maritime requirements by combining capabilities that appeal to various battlefields, has the Thales Sea Fire radar feature, which is a fully digital, multifunctional radar equipped with active antenna and fixed panels.

It was stated in the news that the ship prioritized cyber security.

The frigate in question will be able to accommodate 10 tons of helicopters and VTOL unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The frigate’s weapons consist of 32 Aster missiles, 8 Exocet MM40 B3C missiles, MU 90 torpedoes, 76 millimeter cannon, CANTO as a torpedo countermeasure and 4 torpedo tubes.

Kimon is expected to enter service in 2025.
