Iran announced that its navy warship entered the Red Sea - News2Sea

While tensions are increasing between US forces in the Red Sea and the Houthis, supported by Iran in Yemen, it has been reported that Iran’s warship “Alburz” passed through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and entered the Red Sea.

According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, the warship “Alborz” under the command of the 94th Naval Fleet of the Iranian navy passed through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and entered the Red Sea as part of regular missions in international waters.

The news stated that the Iranian navy has been “operating in open waters to secure shipping lines, fight pirates and perform other tasks” since 2009.

Actions of Iran-backed Houthis and interventions of US forces in the Red Sea

The Houthis in Yemen, supported by Iran, had begun to seize commercial ships affiliated with Israeli companies off the coast of Yemen since October 31 in response to Israel’s attacks in Gaza, and to attack some of them with drones and missiles.

US forces announced that they had shot down missiles and kamikaze drones fired from Yemen many times during this period.

Following the actions of the Houthis, many shipping companies decided to stop their voyages in the Red Sea.

Finally, 10 people from the Houthi forces lost their lives yesterday as a result of 3 speedboats belonging to the Houthis, who were trying to seize the ship linked to Israel in the Red Sea, coming under fire by US helicopters.
