Joint statement from 12 countries towards the Houthis - News2Sea

12 countries made a joint statement against the Houthis in Yemen, who targeted Israeli-linked ships.

The statement stated that the Houthis will bear responsibility for the attacks in the Red Sea.

A joint statement was made by the White House against the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea, signed by the USA, Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand and the UK.

The Houthis, who affected ship traffic in the Red Sea with their attacks, were targeted.

Bahrain, one of America’s closest allies in the Middle East, was the only country in the region to participate in the statement.

“Attacks on ships, including commercial ships, using unmanned aerial vehicles, small boats and missiles, including the first use of anti-ship ballistic missiles against such ships, are a direct threat to freedom of navigation,” the Partners said in a joint statement.

The statement also said, “We call for an immediate end to these illegal attacks and the release of the illegally detained ships and crew. If they continue to threaten human life, the global economy and the free flow of trade, the Houthis will bear the responsibility for the consequences.”
