Nigeria’s first ship was launched 13 months later.

Dearsan Shipyard signed a contract with the Nigerian Navy in Abuja in November 2021 for two 76-meter Offshore Patrol Ships, and then the keel laying ceremony of two 76-meter Offshore Patrol Ships was held in September 2022.

The first ship of the project was launched 13 months later.

It will use offshore patrol ships to combat piracy, smuggling and drug trafficking, as well as to carry out humanitarian aid activities in natural disasters.

Dearsan Shipyard integrated the 40mm bow gun, ASELSAN STAMP 12.7mm UKSS, 12.7 and 25mm or 30mm UKSS and ASELSAN MAR-D radar into the configuration of the ship to be supplied to Nigeria. The ship, which has a length of 76.8 meters, a width of 11 meters and a fully loaded displacement of 1,200 tons, can move at a maximum speed of 28 knots. It has an operational capacity of 3,000 nautical miles.

In addition to the Nigerian Delegation headed by Nigerian Navy Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, Defense Industry Vice President Gökhan Uçar, Dearsen Shipyard Chairman Aziz Yıldırım, Dearsen Shipyard General Manager Murat Gordi and many guests attended the ceremony.
