sea tests of underwater glider narval 1006 continue

Sea tests of the unmanned underwater glider Narval 1006, developed by Sonitus Engineering, continue.

Turkey’s first unmanned underwater glider, Narval 1006, developed by Sonitus Engineering and unveiled for the first time at SAHA EXPO 2022, continues its sea tests to solve the mysteries of the underwater world. The glider, which does not have any active propulsion system, has a specially designed battery that allows it to glide through the water by changing its center of gravity. Thanks to its noiseless operation, it both protects the marine ecosystem and opens the door to secrecy in military operations. The glider, which can operate for 6 months continuously, has a length of 2.7 meters and a weight of 60-75 kg.

It was noted to have demonstrated successful performance during sea tests, using high-tech sensors and navigation systems to cope with variable conditions underwater. Designed for tasks such as mine, diver and submarine detection, reconnaissance and surveillance in enemy territorial waters, signal intelligence in the field of defense and security, Narval 1006 will also play a role in observing underwater life, underwater mapping, examining underwater currents and detecting underwater caves.
