Malaysian Defense Minister Mohammad Hassan announced during a presentation that ships will be procured from Turkey within the scope of the LMS Batch 2 tender. STM, ASFAT and Dearsan companies from Turkey were participating in the tender in question. It is not yet clear who won the tender and how many ships will be procured.

Currently, STM is in Ukraine’s MİLGEM corvette procurement project; While ASFAT successfully proved its shipbuilding capabilities in the PN MİLGEM project, Dearsan also participated in the tender with its C92 corvette design.

According to the news by Defense Security Asia, the Royal Malaysian Navy is planning to procure 3 LMS Batch 2 ships this year. It was reported that 5 more ships are planned to be put into service in the following period.

ADA class corvettes built for Ukraine are being considered for supply by Malaysia. The news report states that it is not possible for Ukraine to use the ship for its intended purpose and that additional payments may be made to Ukraine regarding the issue. It is also stated in the news that this situation will save the Malaysian Navy three years.(defenceturk.net)
