South Korea and the USA are conducting large-scale exercises in the Yellow Sea.

According to Yonhap’s news, based on the statement of the South Korean Navy, the exercise, which was jointly launched by the South Korean and US military on October 24, is being held off the coast of the Taean region, approximately 110 kilometers southwest of Seoul.

South Korean Naval, Air, Land Forces and Coast Guard units and units from the US Navy and Land Forces are participating in the exercise held in the Yellow Sea.

The 4-day joint exercise, which is stated to be a part of the annual “Hoguk” exercise, includes 30 warships, warplanes, maritime surveillance aircraft, helicopters and coast guard ships.

In the statement of the South Korean Navy, it was noted that South Korea and the USA carried out “defensive operations to improve their joint operational capabilities against North Korea’s provocations.”

At the beginning of October, South Korea and the United States conducted an antisubmarine exercise called “Silent Shark” off the coast of Guam to counter North Korean threats.
