Between January 11-14, Tenzor International Cup, the second stage of the open winter series of the J/70 class, will take place in Bodrum Akyarlar Bay.

The races, organized with the support of the Turkish Sailing Federation and the J/70 Association, had a great impact in the sailing world with the first organization held last month.

In the second stage, there are also new teams aiming to reach the cup. Among the teams with great success in sailing, “Cheese Sailing Team” led by Bora Olcav ranks first. The team, which won the bronze medal in the fifth stage of the 2023 Turkey Tour, also asserted its claim in this class by placing 8th in the Turkish championship in the J/70 class.

Another successful team that will take part in the Tenzor International Cup for the first time is “Happyhour JR” led by Erman Ayvaz, Saruhan Çınay, Saffet Onur Bilgen and Anıl Berk Baki. The team has very ambitious plans, such as participation in the European and World Championships in 2024. In this sense, the Tenzor International Cup winter series is of great importance in terms of preparation for the upcoming international races.

“Nautique Yachting Team”, consisting of professionals specialized in sailing such as Onur Erardağ, Doğa Arıbaş, Enes Caylak and Arda Baykal, is another new team that aims to reach the cup by performing well together.

World famous referee is in Bodrum for the races

The referee board of the second stage of the regatta is from Croatia, Türkiye and Germany. Chief referee Neven Baran is the World Sailing International Referee and has been refereeing regularly since 1993. The experienced chief referee has officiated in sailing competitions such as the America’s Cup in Auckland 2002 and Valencia 2007, as well as the Olympics in Sydney, London and Rio de Janeiro. Baran has recently served as a fleet referee in Yacht Club Monaco, Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, Sailing Champions League, German Sailing League and Star Sailors League.

Tenzor International Cup second phase will start on January 11 with training races and registration. After the races to be held in Aspat Bay between 12-14 January, it will end with the award ceremony to be held on Sunday afternoon.
