The cargo ship built by Atlas Shipyard was launched

The first of four low-emission cargo ships built by Atlas Shipyard for the Dutch Longship has been launched.

The Dutch had signed a contract with Atlas Shipyard to build four low-emission cargo ships.

Ankerbeer BV. Longera, the first of the 8,600 dwt and 81.9 meter long ships designed by AS and built in accordance with EU Stage V standards, was launched at a ceremony.

The ships, which are planned to have a special diesel-electric propulsion system that will save 45 percent in fuel consumption compared to ships of similar size, will have the Methanol C class notation.

We take steps without obligation

Longship CEO Øyvind Sivertsen stated that reducing emissions and carbon footprint while providing logistics and transportation solutions to its customers is among its goals, and said, “We will meet similar requirements – without becoming mandatory regulation.”

Founded in 2009, Longship is a ship operator and logistics company with roots in Norway and the Netherlands. The company, which focuses on 4,000 and 10,000 dwt ships, currently has 17 ships in its fleet.
