The first “Electronic Ship Inspection System” was implemented

The “Electronic Ship Inspection System” application was implemented in Antalya to prevent the pollution caused by ships at sea.

The opening ceremony of the inspection center held at the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Marine and Coastal Management Branch Office was attended by Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Insect, Antalya Regional Port Manager Muhammet Alper Keçeli, Antalya Chamber of Shipping Branch President Ahmet Çetin and protocol members.

In the program, Insect said that the seas surrounding 3 sides of the country offer opportunities for many economic activities.

Indicating that most of the international trade is done with safe sea transportation, Insect said, “Our success in yacht and boat manufacturing in Antalya is known worldwide. At least 80 percent of our guests who come to Antalya, the capital of tourism, prefer our region for our clean sea and uniquely beautiful beaches. ” said.

Emphasizing that the seas have a great importance not only in terms of economy but also in terms of ecological terms, Insect noted that the seas, which are rich in biodiversity, also fulfill vital functions such as carbon cycle, climate regulation and oxygen production.

Underlining that they have to protect the “Blue Homeland” seas and develop the maritime sector, Insect continued as follows:

“As a result of our cooperation with all institutions and organizations for the protection of our seas, we have increased the number of beaches awarded with the blue flag to 229. Our Antalya maintains the title of ‘the city with the most blue flags in the world’ this year. “We will not let it pollute our waters. We will protect the Mediterranean together by working in cooperation with our responsible institutions. Our priority is not punishment, but to be a deterrent and prevent marine pollution.”

Insect said that they want to be instrumental in the implementation of the system on all coasts of the country by achieving success.

Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Marine and Coastal Management Branch Manager Lokman Atasoy explained that they are trying to prevent ship-borne pollution in the seas by working in partnership with state institutions and organizations.

Stating that they implemented the system in question at the end of the long work, Atasoy said, “If a pollution is left from the ship to our sea, it can be detected instantly thanks to thermal cameras.” he said.

The system, which was opened after the speeches, was tested.
