Tunneling works using the shield method in the world’s longest undersea highway tunnel project have started in Qingdao.
Qingdao – Jiaozhou Bay Second Tunnel is expected to be completed and put into service in December 2027.
The tunnel will connect the new area on Qingdao’s west coast to the residential area on the east coast. It was reported that the length of the tunnel part of the 17.48 kilometer long project reached 14.37 kilometers and 9.95 kilometers of it was under the sea. It was informed that the tunnel was designed as two lanes in both directions. (CGTN TÜRK)
