On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Republic, the Turkish navy has completed its preparations for the largest official parade in its history.

Before the official parade to be held in the Bosphorus with 100 warships, as well as aircraft and helicopters, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Republic, a press briefing was held at the nationally produced TCG Anadolu, the largest warship of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF), anchored in Sarayburnu.

The briefing was given by Rear Admiral Gökçen Fırat, the first female admiral of the Turkish Armed Forces and Head of Defense Planning and Project Management of the Naval Forces Command, who was promoted to admiral within the scope of the Supreme Military Council decisions taken this year.

Fırat said that the largest official parade in the history of the Turkish navy will be commanded by the Commander of the Naval Forces, Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, and that the ships will offer the maritime “chimariva” salute to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who will watch the ceremony.

Stating that the passage in the Bosphorus will be accompanied by 100 ships, F-16 and F4E planes and helicopters under the guidance of TCG Anadolu, Fırat said that SOLOTÜRK and Turkish Stars shows will be held before the ceremony.

Rear Admiral Fırat stated that after TCG Anadolu is positioned, the ships will proceed to the southern entrance of the Bosphorus and that the official parade will start at 17.00.

Stating that 7 thousand 896 personnel, including 21 admirals, will participate in the official parade at sea, Fırat said that the second ship after TCG Anadolu will be Turkey’s first national frigate, TCG Istanbul.

Stating that frigates, island class corvettes, mine hunting ships, amphibious ships, patrol ships, logistics ships, assault boats and submarines will also take part in the parade, Fırat noted that 101 artillery fires will be fired by the Land Forces Command elements during the parade.

Rear Admiral Gökçen Fırat continued his information as follows:

“Drawing its strength and determination from the great Turkish nation and the crescent and star flag, the Turkish Naval Forces, with all its floating, diving and flying elements, will give their lives for the defense of the homeland when necessary, with unwavering determination, will and excitement, in every corner of our country, beyond its borders and in the seas of the world, especially our blue homeland.” He is ready, at the command of his nation and on duty.

Republic Day celebration at TCG Anatolia

After the briefing, a Republic Day celebration was held at TCG Anadolu.

The celebration started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem.

At the ceremony where Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler’s October 29 Republic Day message was shared, the 100th Anniversary Anthem of the Republic was sung by the ship’s personnel.
