TURMEPA won the “Residential Programs Excellence Award” with its “Children Code Water! Became H2School” Project

DenizTemiz Association/TURMEPA’s “Children Code Water! H2Schooled” Project won the ‘Residential Programs Excellence Award’ of the Pratt & Whitney ESTEM Awards.

“Children Code Water!”, which was carried out by Turmepa between 2018-2022 in partnership with Sarıyer District National Education Directorate and Istanbul Governorship. The “H2Okullu Became” project was carried out with Istanbul Technical University as a participant and with a grant from the Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA).

Nearly 5 thousand students “met with water” in 2 years

With this project, where STEM and marine education was provided to 4,933 students and 364 teachers in 28 schools during its active period, it was aimed to encourage children to develop their creativity, questioning and research aspects.

Throughout the project; Environmental awareness is achieved by teaching the importance of seas and water in our lives through projects carried out by students and their teachers in various schools, such as the Collection of Waste Oils from the Building with the Drainage System, the Sea Cleaning Ship ‘BY 560’, the Waste Collection Vehicle from the Shore, the Smart Garden Irrigation System, the Transformation Machine ‘Select Separate and Use’. It contributed to raising individuals with a high sense of responsibility. Providing education with the STEM discipline in these projects, TURMEPA not only created environmental awareness, but also contributed to the self-improvement of students in fields such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Pratt & Whitney ESTEM Awards support promising E-STEM programs worldwide to build environmental literacy, develop STEM skills, create pathways to environmental careers, and promote sustainable aviation.
