Captain died, crew can’t navigate, waiting CG, but CG waiting PCR test result | CHIN LONG CHENG 18 - News2Sea

59-year old Taiwanese Captain of tuna fishing vessel CHIN LONG CHENG NO.18 died of natural causes on board of his vessel on Sep 15, some 610 nm N of Guam, Pacific. Fishing vessel is drifting since Sep 15, waiting for assistance. Problem is, the rest of Indonesian crew (9 or more) can’t navigate the vessel, so they’re waiting for CG patrol boat to help them out of their trouble. There’s rather unusual problem with CG assistance, according to Yahoo news: Coast Guard (Japanese, Ryukyu Islands?) has to wait until PCR test result will become known. Plus typhoon nearby.
So, CG are waiting for PCR test before they’ll render assistance? New chapter in sea rescue history?
