Hijacked commercial ship off the coast of Somalia - News2Sea

It was reported that the Maltese-flagged commercial ship “Ruen”, which was hijacked in the Arabian Sea last week, was brought to the coast of Somalia by pirates and one injured person was taken off.

Ahmed Yasin Salah, Minister of Ports and Fighting Maritime Crimes in Somalia’s Puntland state, announced that the Maltese-flagged commercial ship, which was hijacked in the Arabian Sea and had a crew of 18 people, is currently in the Bereeda district of Puntland state, off the coast of Somalia.

Salah announced that pirates had landed one of the crew, who was injured when they hijacked the ship last week, off the coast of Somalia.

Stating that the ship’s movements were monitored, Salah stated that the company and anti-piracy teams contacted those inside and allowed a small boat to be sent to rescue someone with serious health conditions.

Salah also stated that the three warships following the ship could carry out an operation at the appropriate time.

Bulgarian shipping company Navibulgar announced in a statement on December 15 that contact with the company’s Maltese-flagged ship Ruen was lost in the south of Yemen.
